Since last October, the use of non-biodegradable, insoluble plastic flakes sold loose or in bulk has been banned in the European Union. On the other hand – and this is an important nuance – when they are used in free-flowing or formulated cosmetic applications, they benefit from transitional periods of use:

• 4 years for rinsed cosmetics
• 6 years for non-rinsed cosmetic products
• 12 years for nail, lip and make-up products
